By investing in the regenerative potential of endings, Canada can strengthen its social sector and honour the people and legacies that shaped it. The people, learning, resources, and relationships released nourish what comes next.

Ever/Was supports good endings in the Canadian social sector with a hotline, accompaniment teams, and advocacy collective. We bring care, not judgement, to leaders courageously and strategically weighing options. The Collective walks alongside organizations navigating closures, mergers, insolvency, succession planning, & program endings.

  • A free support line for non-profit, NGO, philanthropic, and faith-based organizational leaders hosted by a team of trained and experienced Navigators.

  • Teams of experienced endings practitioners who work alongside leadership with financial, legal, real estate, communication, emotional, and network support.

    We’re not yet ready with this offering, but hope to be soon.

  • Data and narrative change for leadership teams, organizations, philanthropists, and policy makers transforming conditions for a thriving Canadian civil society.

Is your social sector organization facing or sensing a potential ending? We offer leaders a free, confidential 60-minute call to consider options and navigate the emotions that come with them. Our trained Navigators provide support and help envision practical next steps.

What's our Story

The Ever/Was Collective came together out of connection, concern, and possibility for the social sector in Canada. Each of us have been part of one or more organizational endings, in many cases missing critical components to make them regenerative. We believe systems change in this country is imperative, and that is achieved at least as much through endings as beginnings.
